At Advanced Behavior Coalition one-on-one therapy is individualized therapy for each child. We are there for that one patient and we will help to teach new skills and work on reducing problem behaviors for the child. This type of therapy is the most effective and successful for the growth of each child.
Social skill groups are offered once a week for the kids in our clinic to work on goals together. These groups are categorized by age and functioning. This is a great way for the children to learn to work together in a group setting on skills like greetings, starting conversations, recognizing our feelings, coping skills, and much more.
Our evaluation begins with meeting the family to figure out what is needed. We will conduct an interview, also known as an intake, that will help us figure out needs and what behaviors need to be targeted. From there we will conduct an assessment depending on needs. We use a variety of assessments to come up with goals that fit each person.
Discrete trial training is a type of teaching method that breaks longer tasks down into smaller steps to aid in learning. This can be as simple as teaching someone how to wash their step by step or teaching how to tie shoelaces. We always mix this up with the natural environment training to gear therapy towards the generalization of skills across different enviroments.
